I want to acknowledge that your naturally caring, compassionate and giving nature is a true gift that should be celebrated. But the problem is as a naturally giving person, when you give TOO much you can be left feeling resentful, taken advantage of and just generally zapped of energy. That’s why it’s so important to learn to take care of number 1 first (that’s you doll!) – so you can give from your overflow, and not from a cup half full.
Avery is an absolute dream. I took her Self Care Isn't Selfish programme, during which we explored all different aspects of self love, compassion and finding joy. The work she put into it was incredible, so much good research and explained in a way that made it relatable. She also made so much effort to check in with all of us outside of the programme. Having been stagnant for a long while in any kind of health development, Avery's course was exactly what I needed to not only kickstart it, but completely inspire new avenues of self-love. The depth of her knowledge was astounding, too extensive to be contained in just the one course, and yet at no point did it feel like a lecture. Avery's delivery is underlined by a deep sense of care and empathy, and to be honest, way more -fun- than I would expect from a course like this. I took Avery's Self Care Isn't Selfish course and it was really inspiring, insightful and surprisingly comforting. I learnt that many of the things I feel and struggle with are completely normal and felt by others too. We delved into the notion of having a healthy, happy relationship with food, the power of movement - even the small ones - and how important it is to find your Ikigai - your reason for being. I have always struggled with the pressure society puts on us to be successful in a specific way. This course reinforced that that is just one way to find happiness, to feel fulfilled. This course made me feel comfortable with the idea of striving for something different, something that isn't defined by salary and title. Something that makes me feel like my time on this planet is worthwhile. I would highly recommend this course and Avery to anyone looking for a positive, relatable and productive course that leaves you feeling empowered and able to make a change -however small - that puts you first.

Self care isn’t selfish was an amazing course which really helped me climb out of a hole I was in. Avery guided me to ask and answer questions that had repeatedly put me in said “hole” for a number of years. She is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate and really helps you to understand yourself better which, literally, improves your life. Avery’s interactive seminars were a lot of fun and very in-depth and I looked forward to them on a weekly basis as I knew I was about to learn a whole new world about myself. The community vibe is also a huge vibe ❤ The weekly work books were a great tool to reflect on the lessons you’ve learnt that week and to help you to achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself. I took Avery's "Self Care isn't Selfish" course and I cannot recommend it enough! I did not have a lot of confidence in myself before the process and put a lot of pressure on myself to be 'perfect'. Going through this course taught me how to be kinder to myself and how to just enjoy myself and not worry about being "good" at things but just enjoying the process.
